The ReNewport Transportation Task Force is committed to working with residents, businesses, and local, regional and state officials to make Newport a leader in safe and efficient transportation. To do this, the Task Force will focus on (1) safety, (2) community advocacy, (3) public transportation, (4) infrastructure, and (5) special projects. Meetings are announced publicly and anyone is welcome to attend and participate. Anyone who has attended two or more meetings in a year can vote on any proposed motions.

What We’ve Done:
Bicycle Infrastructure: We create and install bicycle infrastructure throughout Newport. To date, we have installed over 50 bicycle racks throughout the city and built/installed the region's first Netherlands style bike parking garage that can be found inside the Academy on 4th.
Transportation Plan: Our Transportation Task Force, working with Tri-State Trails, is currently in the process of creating a transportation plan that will be proposing bike lanes, bump-outs and other safety features throughout Newport. The plan is estimated to be completed before the end of 2023. This plan is an extension of the Newport Connect NKY initiative that can be read about here: Connect NKY Plan
Community Bike Rides: We host community bike rides as a way to bring more awareness to alternate methods of transportation throughout the city and region, but also as a way to bring community members together and promote active, healthy living.
